Cookie Policy
1. Our approach
SerpTune sets strictly-necessary cookies, which need no consent because the site cannot work without them, and two optional families that run only if you allow them: statistics cookies (Google Analytics) and advertising-measurement cookies (Meta pixel, Google Ads). The two are separate categories with separate tick boxes, so you can allow one and refuse the other. Nothing optional is stored on your device before you choose. We use no device fingerprinting, and our own audience measurement uses no cookies at all. A banner asks for your choice on your first visit; refusing costs you nothing, because the site behaves exactly the same either way.
2. Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Type / duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you authenticated after you sign in. | Strictly necessary; session (removed on logout/browser close). |
| CSRF token | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery. | Strictly necessary; session. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Distinguishes humans from bots to protect our forms; set by our security provider, Cloudflare. No cross-site tracking. | Strictly necessary; short-lived. |
serptune_consent | Records the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask again and can prove what you agreed to. | Strictly necessary; 180 days. |
serptune_lang | Remembers the display language you picked, so the site opens in it next time. Set only when you choose a language yourself; it holds a language code and nothing else. | Strictly necessary (preference you set); 1 year. |
_fbp | Set by the Meta pixel to tell browsers apart when measuring our advertising. | Marketing; consent required; 90 days. |
_fbc | Stores the advertising click identifier (fbclid) from the link you arrived through, so a later action can be attributed to that ad. | Marketing; consent required; 90 days. |
serptune_fbq | Carries an event that has just occurred over to the next page, so it is reported once and only once. | Marketing; consent required; 30 minutes. |
_gcl_au | Set by the Google Ads tag to tell browsers apart when measuring our advertising. | Marketing; consent required; 90 days. |
_gcl_aw | Stores the advertising click identifier (gclid) from the Google ad you arrived through, so a later action can be attributed to that ad. | Marketing; consent required; 90 days. |
_ga | Set by Google Analytics to tell visitors apart in our usage statistics. | Statistics; consent required; 2 years. |
_ga_<ID> | Set by Google Analytics to keep session state in our usage statistics. | Statistics; consent required; 2 years. |
Before you sign in and before you accept anything, the public website sets no cookies at all — except any transient challenge token required by our bot protection, and serptune_lang if you pick a display language yourself.
Local storage. We also keep one functional preference in your browser’s local storage — serptune-theme — to remember your light/dark theme choice. It stores no personal data, sets no cookie, and performs no tracking; as a preference you set yourself it is strictly necessary and exempt from consent.
3. Managing cookies
Cookie preferences at the bottom of every page reopens the panel, so you can change your mind whenever you like. The two optional categories are withdrawn independently, and either withdrawal takes effect immediately: withdrawing statistics stops Google Analytics from loading and deletes _ga and _ga_<ID>; withdrawing marketing stops the advertising tags from loading, stops our servers transmitting events, and deletes _fbp, _fbc and _gcl_*. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking the strictly-necessary ones will prevent you from signing in or submitting forms.
4. Changes & contact
If we introduce further non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again before they run. Questions: [email protected]. See also our Privacy Policy.
